Open a Matter
Describe your matter in plain language. LMIS will organize it, extract key details, and prepare a matter file.
Supported: PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML. Max 10 files at a time.
Hello. I'm the LMIS intake assistant. Tell me about the legal issue you're dealing with, and I'll help organize it into a matter.
Supported: PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML. Max 10 files at a time.

Workflow Defaults
When enabled, uploading documents to a matter will automatically run the profiling agent and generate a brief in the background.
When enabled, LMIS will automatically extract legal issues, statutes, jurisdictions, deadlines, and other key concepts for each matter. Requires an LLM call (~4k tokens per matter).

Embedding & Chunking
Model and chunking used for newly created matter/firm/user OpenSearch indices. Existing indices keep their original settings.
New Index Defaults
Chunks are split so no chunk exceeds the max token limit. Overlap is the token overlap between adjacent chunks.
Endpoint used for Docling document parsing. Default: 127.0.0.1:5001.
Existing indices retain their original model/dimension/chunk/doc-processing settings.
Re-index Existing Indices
After changing the embedding model above, rebuild firm/matter/user indices so they use the new defaults. This deletes and recreates each selected index, then re-ingests source documents.
Document Processing
Docling options applied when parsing matter/firm/user uploads. These do not affect already-indexed documents until re-ingested.
Agents
Global agent configuration. Changes apply to all users and firms.
Agent Settings
Per-agent model. Set here; applies to all users and firms.
Test Output
Global Read-Only Indices
These indices are built by server-side ingestion scripts on the configured OpenSearch host. They are not affected by the embedding settings. Rebuild them by re-running the corresponding script.

Legal Data Coverage
Expected vs. present global legal indices. Missing indices mean no data has been ingested yet for that province/court and language. This is a coverage gap, not an operational failure.
